It was a busy month for the Lac La Biche RCMP detachment in July, patrolling and responding to calls in the community. A total of 602 calls ranging from property damage, traffic concerns, theft and disorderly conduct were received.

An initiative to clean up the streets and promote livable conditions in Lac La Biche County is once again getting a push from enforcement services. This time, at an occupied unsafe apartment complex.

Residents are invited to stop by the Smoky Lake-St. Paul Community Futures office to sign a Canadian flag that will be send to Ukraine.

A day of agricultural knowledge was offered up on Aug. 4, as LARA held its St. Paul Summer Field Day.

Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 545 investigations from July 19 to Aug. 11. Among these were investigations related to stolen vehicles, stabbings and break and enters.

An alleged stabbing that occurred on July 28, resulted in three people being treated for non-life threatening injuries. A 22-year-old has been arrested and remanded into custody in relation to the assault.

Cold Lake RCMP are investigating extensive vandalism that took place early Friday morning, Aug. 12, at Kinosoo Beach. The recreational area recently underwent extensive improvements to its amenities.

An advisory has been issued at Camper’s Beach due to “elevated levels of fecal bacteria” that were tested at the Lac La Biche Lake beach, according to Alberta Health Services (AHS).

An indefinite road closure will be in effect following a bridge collapse in the County of St. Paul.

As the next school year approaches, Lakeland Catholic School Division has begun to announce changes to the leadership of its schools. While Bonnyville’s École Dr. Bernard Brosseau School will see a new principal arriving this fall, a new vice principal is set to fill a vacant spot at École Notre Dame Elementary School.

Corey deMoissac has been named head coach with the St. Paul Jr. B Canadiens for the 2022/23 season.
